I love this place. I also work here and have a difficult time saying anything negative about it. We at CBH do our very very best to serve everyone the best, freshest food with the best possible service. Just reading some of these reviews made me feel some type of way, so here we are! The beer is made meticulously and professionally by the owner, Scott. We may not have the biggest staff, but our people work hard and well to serve everyone kindly. Our kitchen is maintained freshly & cleanliness is our #1 priority. The environment is kept well, clean and open to all walks of life. Handicap accessible, Vegan & vegetarian options, party & catering options available, too. Come check us out! You’re bound to find something to love.
This review is a part of my quest of visiting all CT breweries. I frequently visited CBH pre-pandemic, but my mid-pandemic experience was not great. So I decided to give it another try now. The place is pretty big. It has an outdoor patio and the indoors is separated into two rooms, making it possible to enjoy the food in a quieter atmosphere. We ordered a quesadilla with grilled chicken, fish and chips, and a burger. The food was a mixed bag - I enjoyed my fish and chips, but the quesadilla's meat was a bit bland and chewy. The burger was ok. My wife tried two of their coffee-based cocktails, and while they both smelled awesome, the taste lacked the sweetness of liquors (which might be fine depending on your taste). My main goal in breweries is, of course, to try beers. CBH allows to order them in a flight of 5, so I've tried almost everything they had on tap. The beers are just ok, they are safe choices - most of them fit their respective style, but don't take any steps beyond that. I liked Rock Bock and Festbier, but some of the beers missed the mark (like South 189 Lager). The beers are rotated - there were about 5 core beers I tried long before and others were new. If you're looking for a hangout spot with non mass market beer - CBH might be a good fit for you. If you're a craft beer enthusiast and want to try new takes on existing beer styles, then you might have better luck with a dedicated brewery instead. Stopped for dinner on Thursday night. Not too crowded. Seated right away. Liked the atmosphere, bar on one side w/ semi-loud music separated from restaurant type tables that were significantly quieter. Jalapeno popper appetizer tasted good but the breading was very hard. Had the rosemary chicken. Came with corn & red peppers mix and german potatoes. Corn was fine, not much flavor. Potatoes were fine cooked tender. Chicken was good, great flavor crispy skin, moist meat. Overall would come back to try the other options.
Amazing experience. We had an early Sunday AM hockey game in Simsbury, and another in the afternoon. It was hard to find a place that was open and that could fit our players and families. I spoke with Vicki the night before and she offered to open up the doors when we needed and the kitchen 30 minutes early to take care of us. Good food, drinks, prices, service, and plenty of space. Will definitely go back!
This review was written after our fifth time here. Always great food and friendly service. I've usually ordered burgers here and they're always delicious and cooked right. I'm not a beer person, but the mixed drinks are made well and have been consistent over the several years I've been coming here. We'll definitely be back.
